Thomas Stearns Eliot OM (26 September 1888 – 4 January 1965), usually known as T. S. Eliot, was an essayist, publisher, playwright, literary and social critic, and "one of the twentieth century's major poets". Wikipedia
Although born in St. Louis, Missouri T. S. Eliot immigrated to England at age 25 and naturalised as a British subject at age 39. Active between 1905 to 1965 his most notable works include The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock (1915), The Waste Land (1922), and Four Quartets (1944). Eliot was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948, "for his outstanding, pioneer contribution to present-day poetry."
